Car market leader Maruti Suzuki India on Thursday said the company sold 79,119 units in April, declining by 12.6 per cent as compared with 90,523 units in the same month last year.
However, exports rose by 4.4 per cent to 7,077 units during the month against 6,779 units in April last year, the company said in a statement.
In the domestic market, the company got maximum numbers from compact cars (Swift, Ritz and Celerio) selling 23,659 units last month, up 10 per cent as compared with 21,535 units in April 2013.
However, sales of its popular compact sedan Dzire fell 18 per cent to 16,008 units during the month against 19,446 units in same month last year.
Sales of the mini segment (like Alto, Wagon R) also fell by 25 per cent to 26,043 units in April as compared with 34,927 units in coressponding month last year.
