Country's leading passenger vehicle maker, Maruti Suzuki India (MSIL) on Friday paid tribute to India's first modern highway network -- The Golden Quadrilateral -- by unveiling a coffee table book titled 'The Golden Quadrilateral'.

The book is authored by auto expert Bob Rupani and the foreword is by RC Bhargava, Chairman, MSIL.

India is making impressive strides in building and modernising road infrastructure. A combination of bold policy reforms and execution is transforming the landscape.

The Golden Quadrilateral highway, a vision of the then Prime Minister, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, lies at the core of this transformation. The modern, multiple and world quality highway has had a positive impact on economic growth, efficiency and investment.

"The name Golden Quadrilateral is apt because it is apt for those people who are living in those areas. It is like getting goldmine for them as many developments are coming along the route," Bhargava said.

Nitin Gadkari, Minister of Road Transport and Highways, and Shipping who unveiled the book said roads play an important role in changing the economy of a country and there are lot projects coming in to roads infrastructure across the country.
