Matrix Partners, a Mauritius-based private equity fund, has invested Rs 30 crore for a significant minority stake in Mewar Orthopaedic Hospital Pvt Ltd. This is Matrix’s third investment in the Indian healthcare sector.
Mewar Ortho provides surgical orthopaedic care in Rajasthan, Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh. It is led by two orthopaedic surgeons-turned-entrepreneurs Manish Chhaparwal and Devashree Chhaparwal.
This transaction is the first institutional investment in the orthopaedic specialty space in India, according to a press release from Grant Thornton, an audit and consultancy firm, which acted as sole financial advisor to Mewar Orthopaedic Hospital.
