Mangalore Chemicals and Fertilizers (MCF) Ltd, a subsidiary of Zuari Agro and Chemicals Ltd, conducted a public hearing for its expansion projects in Mangaluru on Thursday.

Speaking at the public hearing, K Prabhakar Rao, Director (Works) of the company, said that one of the proposed projects at the MCF plant in Mangaluru would add another 1.5 lakh tonnes of urea production to the existing 4 lakh tonne production.

The production of DAP/NPK fertilizers would be expanded from the existing 4 lakh tonnes to 10 lakh tonnes. The proposed projects also include the establishment of poly-carboxyl ether project. (This product is used in construction chemical industry.)

He informed the public hearing that the company would be investing around ₹1500 crore for the proposed projects.

These projects do not require additional land, as they will come up in the existing premises of the plant at Panambur in New Mangalore. There will not be additional requirement of water also, he said.

The public hearing was conducted in the presence of S Sasikanth Senthil, Deputy Commissioner of Dakshina Kannada district.
