Ministry of Corporate Affairs will get a higher budgetary allocation of nearly Rs 272 crore in the next financial year with a substantial increase going towards the non-plan component.

The allocation for next fiscal is nearly 7 per cent higher than what was provided for the current financial year ending March 31.

The Ministry, which primarily has the responsibility of implementing the Companies Act, received budgetary allocation of Rs 255.25 crore for 2014-15 period and the same was revised to Rs 251.92 crore.

For 2015-16, the Ministry will have a budget of Rs 271.88 crore that includes Rs 247.88 crore under non-plan section, according to Finance Minister Arun Jaitley. Jaitley also heads the Corporate Affairs Ministry.

Last fiscal, the non-plan allocation was Rs 231.25 crore, which was revised to Rs 228.92 crore. The latest Budget has also provided Rs 5 crore towards Corporate Data Management (CDM) scheme.

The department seeks to create an in-house data mining and analytics facility to effectively utilise the vast repository of information filed in its corporate registry.

The Economic Services (Secretariat) has been allocated Rs 129.21 crore for the fiscal 2015-16. The Secretariat provides for expenditure of the Ministry, Investors Education and Protection Fund (IEPF), Investors Awareness Programmes under IEPF by Regional Directors (RDs), eGovernance Project (MCA21) and Grants in aid General & Grants in aid Salaries to the Competition Commission of India (CCI), among others.
