In the two-wheelers segment, Hero MotoCorp sold 5,41,615 units in December compared with 5,40,276 units in the corresponding month in 2011.
“December — being the last month of the calendar year —– usually witnesses sluggish retails as customers tend to postpone their purchases to the new-year. Despite that we have been able to despatch over five-lakh two-wheelers during the month,” Anil Dua, Senior Vice-President (Marketing & Sales), Hero MotoCorp, said.
TVS Motor Company recorded total sales (including three-wheelers) of 156,221 units in December 2012 down from 170,428 units reported in December 2011.The company registered total two-wheeler sales of 151,735 units in the month against 167,905 units recorded in December 2011.
Noida-based India Yamaha Motor did not share the monthly figures. For the full calendar year, the company sold 487,290 units in 2012 as compared to 460,815 units in 2011.
