Delhi-based Mother Dairy Fruit & Vegetable Ltd aims to achieve over 30 per cent growth in business in 2013-14.

Mother Dairy is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the National Dairy Development Board.

According to Subhashis Basu, Business Head, dairy products division of Mother Dairy, the growth will be supported by the company’s expanding footprint and launch of new products.

Fresh dairy products account for nearly 10 per cent of the company’s turnover, which was close to Rs 6,000 crore in 2012-13.

“For the last two years we are working towards creating a national footprint. We are currently test marketing our dairy products in some of the southern markets. Once successful, we will go ahead with the commercial launch,” he said.

The company plans to scale up business from the eastern region to Rs 100 crore from the current Rs 25 crore in the next three years.

“The per capita consumption of dairy products in the eastern region is still low and this offers a huge untapped potential,” Basu said.

Mother Dairy, currently present only in the ice cream segment in the eastern region, has launched fresh dairy products including mishti doi (sweet curd), lassi in bottles and frozen yoghurts in flavours such as mango and blueberry.
