Tractors and agriculture equipment maker New Holland Fiat India (NHFI) is putting up a new plant near Pune where it will make sugarcane harvesters, cotton pickers and combines.
This will be NHFI’s second plant in India, and will involve an investment of around Rs 550 crore. It will be operational in the second half of 2015, Rakesh Malhotra, Managing Director, NHFI said.
The new facility will have three product lines, including two for products that are not presently in its portfolio in India, and are currently under development.
NHFI already makes around 250 sugarcane harvesters per annum at a light assembly line near Pune, Malhotra said.
