Novartis India has announced that the next edition of the Novartis Biotechnology Leadership Camp (BioCamp) is set to take place in Hyderabad from July 20 to 23, 2014.

BioCamp is a seminar organised by Novartis that brings talented students from diverse faculties and different universities closer to the pharmaceutical industry.

"Now in its sixth year, BioCamp has positively impacted the lives of many young minds. It provides a great opportunity for a broad range of students to interact with leaders in the pharmaceutical industry. The seminar offers students the opportunity to get insights into the pharmaceutical industry and helps them make career choices,'' said Ranjit Shahani, Vice"-Chairman and Managing Director, Novartis India Limited.

BioCamp is open to post-graduate students and young researchers in natural sciences, medicine, biotechnology, bioinformatics, pharmacy, business administration or law (specialisation in Intellectual Property Rights) interested in pursuing a career in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry. Last date for receiving applications is May 18, 2014.

Selected students would have the opportunity to learn from and network with leaders in the pharmaceutical and business sector as well as hone their team building skills. Top three students from the India BioCamp will represent India at the International BioCamp being held at the Novartis global headquarters in Basel, Switzerland from August 24 to 27, 2014.

Since launching the BioCamp initiative in 2004, Novartis has introduced more than 500 top graduate students to the biotech industry and entrepreneurship.

Besides regional events in various countries, global BioCamps have been held in Taiwan in 2004, Singapore in 2006, Tokyo in 2007, Hong Kong in 2008, and Cambridge, Massachusetts in 2009, and since then in Basel, Switzerland.
