Public sector hydro power generator NHPC Ltd has reported a 24 per cent increase in net profit for the fiscal 2015-16 first quarter at ₹ 767.17 crore. In the same quarter last year, the company had a net profit of ₹ 616.30 crore. The increase in net profit comes despite a drop in its net revenues. During the quarter NHPC’s net revenue fell 2.3 per cent to ₹ 2,007 crore (₹ 2,054.85 crore). While the announcement came after market hours, the company’s shares closed 0.8 per cent higher on the BSE on Wednesday at ₹ 18.90.
