The National Pharmaceuticals Pricing Authority (NPPA) last week fixed an upper cap on 17 formulation-based bulk drugs.
The drugs listed in the order included Ciprofloxacin hydrochloride, Sulfasalazine, Promethazine, Prednisolone, Metronidazaloe, Promethazine and Carbamazepine.
The manufacturers of these drugs having a maximum retail price higher than the ceiling price specified in the notification dated April 2, 2014, should revise the maximum retail price to an amount not exceeding the ceiling price plus local taxes in line with the Drug Price Control Order, 2013, the Authority said.
