Arup Roy Choudhury, Chairman and Managing Director, NTPC Ltd, on Wednesday said that the company will commission a 10-MW solar photo voltaic power project close to the Ramagundam super thermal power project in Karimnagar district of Andhra Pradesh.
The country’s largest power generation company, with an installed capacity of over 42,454 MW, has begun setting up solar PV plants close to its existing thermal ventures across the country. NTPC has a 2,600 MW thermal power project in Karimnagar where it is developing a 25-MW solar PV farm in a phased manner.
Apart from the solar PV units under various stages of development, the company had last year set up a grid-connected 5-MW unit last year at Garacharma Hills in Port Blair, Andaman & Nicobar.
NTPC plans to set up solar PV units in various locations across the country, particularly close to the existing thermal power plants.
