Auto component maker Omax Autos Ltd today announced its foray into full-fledged truck assembly with plans to roll out 10,000 units in three years from its Bangalore plant.

The firm has completed deliveries of an order of 20 vehicles for an undisclosed original equipment manufacturer.

“Upon completion of initial batch successfully, Omax will work with the customer to invest for developing, a focussed infrastructure for high volume assembly line,” Omax Autos Ltd President & CEO (passenger cars and commercial vehicles) Kishor Karnataki said in a statement.

He said a focussed assembly cell has been created at the company’s Bangalore plant, where the truck is assembled.

Omax Autos Ltd Head (Strategy & NBD) Devashish Mehta: “We are targeting an annual volume of 10,000 vehicles in 3 years.”

Exuding confidence over the success of the new venture, he said: “Even though the CV space has seen a significant dip in volume due to high interest rates and stagnant freight corridor rates, we are confident of an upswing this year and we will encash on this by targeting similar premium assemblies.”

The company manufactures a range of components for automobiles ranging from two-wheelers, three-wheelers, Off- Highway, passenger cars, commercial vehicles and railways.
