Pan India Paryatan Pvt Ltd (PIPPL) plans to invest around Rs 100 crore to set up its third product, Downtown EsselWorld, in 10 cities by the end of fiscal 2017.

The newest brand from the company that owns amusement parks EsselWorld and Water Kingdom, will be spread over 20,000 sq ft in shopping malls.

The first of these has been launched in Pune, and features an ice zone, a cricket simulator, and laser tag.

“During CY 2015 we plan to set up two more Downtown EsselWorld centres in Amritsar and Chennai,” Shirish Deshpande, CEO, PIPPL said.

The plan is to add another seven by the end of March 2017, taking the total number of these amusement centres to 10. The remaining seven cities had not still been firmed up, he said.

With each centre costing around Rs 10 crore, the exercise would entail a total investment of Rs 100 crore, which would be raised through a mixture of borrowing and internal accruals, he added.

Elaborating on the cricket simulator, Deshpande said the company had set up two “lanes” where enthusiasts could choose to face the bowling from one of eight real-life bowlers (including Lasit Malinga, Wasim Akram) and test their batting skills.

The company has a choice of 122 bowlers, and could add more as the amusement game progresses, Deshpande said.
