Raymond Ltd on Saturday signed a memorandum of understanding with the Department of Technical Education and Training (DTET) of the Government of West Bengal for organising skill training programs in tailoring for marginalised and unemployed youth of the State.
This social initiative will be undertaken by Skilled Training Institute by Raymond (STIR), a public charitable trust from the Raymond Group. STIR will undertake employability linked skill development training programmes free of cost.
It will set up two training centres in West Bengal. The first centre in city is expected to commence operations in April. It will be followed by the other centre located in Domjur in Howrah district.
STIR will also help trained students to join the profession through industry placements.
West Bengal is the 4th State where the STIR initiative is being implemented. In the last one year, it undertook training programmes in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Rajasthan.
