SAIL on Tuesday said it has registered a production growth of 4 per cent in hot metal and 2 per cent each in crude steel and saleable steel for October 2012 against the same month in the previous year.
The public sector company produced of 1.2 million tonnes of hot metal, 1.14 million tonnes of crude steel and 1.01 million tonnes if saleable steel in October, SAIL said in a statement.
“As India is expected to resume its high growth trend in the coming years, SAIL is well prepared to meet the demands of the market,” said C. S. Verma, Chairman, SAIL.
During April-October, SAIL produced 7.2 million tonnes of saleable steel products against 7 million tonnes produced in the same period last year. Production of hot metal and crude steel stood at 8.4 million tonnes and 7.9 million tonnes respectively, registering a growth of 3 per cent year-on-year, the company said.
