Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas & Co, the new law firm of Shardul and Pallavi Shroff together with the partners of the Delhi region of Amarchand & Mangaldas & Suresh A. Shroff & Co commenced business from May 11.
The development follows the dissolution of Amarchand & Mangaldas & Suresh A. Shroff & Co on May 9.
“Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas, a full service law firm, is positioned to support Indian and International businesses with a nationwide footprint covering six major business hubs across India,” the new firm said in a statement.
The firm will have offices at three locations in Mumbai, one in Bengaluru, and one each in New Delhi, Gurgaon, Ahmedabad and Kolkata.
At its foundation, the new firm’s Management Board will comprise of Shardul Shroff, Pallavi Shroff, Gunjan Shah and Jatin Aneja, all equity partners. M Damodaran a former SEBI chairman will be an independent member and John Handoll, Senior Advisor – European and Competition Law will be an advisor to the Board.
“The firm will add more independent members to its Board shortly,” the statement added.
The Management Board will be supported by an Operations Committee, comprising the Managing Partners, the Chief Operating Officer, the Chief Financial Officer, and the National Practice Group Heads – another new change to the firm’s operating structure.
“It is a big moment for us at Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas and we are excited about the future. We have a remarkable legacy to carry forward,” said Shardul Shroff in a statement.
Pallavi Shroff, will take on a new role as Managing Partner - Northern region. At commencement, she will have overall charge of all the regions until the other Regional Managing Partners are inducted. She will be supported by Jennifer Milford, the Chief Operating Officer of the Firm.
