Simbhaoli Sugars on Tuesday reported a consolidated loss of Rs 26.28 crore for the quarter ended December 31, 2012, due to high expenditure.
The company had posted a loss of Rs 46.47 crore in the same quarter last year.
Total income, however, jumped to Rs 283.68 crore during the quarter ended December 31 last year, from Rs 189.37 crore in the year-ago period, Simbhaoli Sugars said in a filing to the BSE.
The company’s expenditure during the quarter increased significantly to Rs 293.51 crore from Rs 197.08 crore in the review period.
The national capital-based Simbhaoli Sugars has three sugar facilities in Uttar Pradesh, with a production capacity of three lakh tonnes per annum. It also has alcohol distilleries alongside sugar facilities.
The company’s scrip rose 0.22 per cent to settle at Rs 23 on the BSE platform today.
