Skoda Auto India on Thursday launched a new version of its Octavia sedan, which the company had discontinued in 2010.
Available in three variants (1.4L and 1.8L petrol, and 2L diesel engines), the car is priced between Rs 13.95 lakh and Rs 19.45 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
The company claimed it had already received 500 bookings for the new Octavia. Launched in 2001, the company had sold 45,000 Octavia units till 2010.
“Octavia’s arrival in the Indian market also kicks off a five-year strategy for Skoda, which will make customers the brand’s primary focus,” said Sudhir Rao, Managing Director.
As part of the strategy, the company will enhance its after-sales service and product portfolio, he said. With the launch of the new Octavia, the company said it would phase out the Laura sedan from the Indian market, which will only be available on order.
