SmartTrak Solar Systems has installed a 5 HP solar water pump along with its dual axis solar tracking system at an agriculture farm in Shamshabad near Hyderabad.

The dual axis solar tracking system changes axis and helps generate up to 40 per cent more energy compared to fixed systems, according to the Hyderabad-based company.

The company had supplied similar dual axis tracking systems to BPCL refinery stations in Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh and a few other solar water pumps installed in Andhra Pradesh.

This tracking system helps produce more energy from the photo-voltaic modules. The solar tracker is a platform fitted with panels which follows the sun across the sky ensuring that the maximum amount of sunlight strikes the panels throughout the day.

The solar tracker, which can be installed at an additional cost of about 10 per cent, helps increase electricity generation capacity by 25–40 per cent.

The company says this is suitable for water pumps used in farm operations.
