Hyderabad-based serial entrepreneur Srinubabu has acquired Canada-based scientific medical informatics firm Pulsus Group Inc, to enter the scientific, medical informatics market.

Without disclosing the deal size, he announced that Pulsus will expand in India with two new centres - Chennai and Gurgaon - in the next few months, in addition to the Hyderabad centre.

Established in 1984, Pulsus initially focused on THE American region and currently is expanding to a healthcare informatics platform for medical and pharma professionals throughout Europe, America, Asia, Australia and all other continents.

Pulsus is committed to building the domestic scientific and medical Informatics market, supported by a team of 500 people with a target to grow the team to 2,000 by early next year.

"This is a 100 per cent acquisition through a combination of cash and equity,” Srinubabu, who will spearhead the venture as CEO, said in a release.

“In recent years cities such as Chennai and Gurgaon have become increasingly important as centres for science and research, as can be seen in the growing number of universities and companies with R&D departments.

A 2015 study in the journal BMC Medicine estimated revenue generated by the open-access journals market at $344 million for open access publishers and $10.5 billion that traditional journals make from global subscriptions.

Headquartered in Singapore, Pulsus group has offices in London (UK), Ontario, (Canada) and Hyderabad (India).
