The Tamil Nadu Energy Development Agency has given Su-Kam Power Systems the contract to set up solar power systems for over 27,700 houses under the Chief Minister’s solar power green house scheme, according to a press release from the company.

This is in addition to 10,000 installations in houses across seven districts.

By May, the power solutions company will install the solar power units in 2,500 more homes.

The 27,700 houses come under the next phase of the state-sponsored green house scheme.

Under the scheme, the State Government plans to build three lakh houses with solar-powered lighting in five years between 2011-12 and 2015-16.

The Tamil Nadu Energy Development Agency, the nodal agency to promote renewable energy, is overseeing the programme.
