Tata Power has commissioned a 21-MW wind project in Rajasthan. It had signed an agreement to install 30 MW in the State.
Tata Power has an operating capacity of 397 MW in wind power spread across Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Rajasthan and Karnataka.
With this, the total power generation capacity of Tata Power stands at 8,521 MW, of which generation through clean sources such as hydro, wind and solar total 873 MW and thermal 7,648 MW.
Anil Sardana, Managing Director, said: “It is our endeavour to have 20- 25 per cent of our total generation capacity from clean energy sources. Wind energy is an important part of our renewable energy portfolio and we aim to add 150-200 MW annually. Through this project, we have now made a foray into Rajasthan.”
Tata Power has three of its renewable energy projects registered under the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) programme of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change. These projects include a 50.4-MW wind power project at Samana, a 50.4-MW wind project at Khandke, Maharashtra, and a 25-MW solar project at Mithapur, Gujarat.
