Tata Power, an integrated power company, is keen to evaluate investment opportunities in Africa, Turkey and West Asia, South-East Asia and the SAARC region. In line with its international strategy, the company is to continue to assess favourable circumstances to scale up its generation capacity.

Announcing its strategic intent till 2022, the company has said the key focus will be to scale up the generation capacity and value added businesses. Anil Sardana, CEO, Tata Power, said the firm is evaluating various opportunities for providing management and technical advisory services in the generation and distribution businesses and is also focusing on the consumer end of the value chain through the distribution network development and power supply business.

“While the Indian market continues to remain the primary focus of business, we have started making investments in projects in select international geographies to diversify our portfolio further,” Sardana noted in a statement.

The company said it plans to increase the generation capacity to 18,000 MW with 20-25 per cent of it from clean and green sources. Plans are also afoot to have 25 million tonnes per annum (mtpa) of coal and coal equivalent, 4,000 MW distribution and decentralised distributed generation, and 10 times growth in value-added businesses by 2022.

To achieve the set target, the company has various projects under execution and development stage.
