Tata Steel said it celebrated 155th birth anniversary of Sir Dorabji Tata, the first Chairman of the company on Thursday at Jamshedpur. A thematic exhibition on the life and times of Dorabji was also on display for the occasion.
In a statement, the company said that the exhibition displayed the journey of the company from first project camp to exploration for minerals in the forests of Mayurbhanj to the setting up of the country’s first steel factory at Sakchi village. It also exhibits pictorial records of the first blast furnace, the rolling of the first ingot and setting up the township.
