Tata Steel did not have the luxury of time when it was grappling with change in its European operations.
Some 25 years ago the company had to manage significant change in India to stay competitive, said T V Narendran, MD, of Tata Steel.
“Then we could cut the workforce from 80,000 to 35,000 in 10 years through the early retirement scheme,” he said at a CII event here.
