Tata Power, through its wholly-owned subsidiary, Coastal Gujarat Power Ltd, has signed a memorandum of understanding with AAKAR for the welfare of fishermen community in Kutch district of Gujarat where the company has set up India’s first ultra mega power project at Mundra.
The move is expected to improve the quality of life of fishermen community at Tragadi Bunder in Mandvi taluka. AAKAR is an organisation with technical knowhow and expertise in implementation of community development programmes and holistic development of the community, the company said in a release here on Tuesday.
The objective of the MoU is creation of awareness on health and hygiene, establishment of Fisheries Information Centre, extending training to the community on behavior change communication, importance of education among the children, support to the existing school at the Tragadi Bunder, promotion of folklore among the fisher community, adopting best practices for improving the processes in the fish catch value chain. This also aims at vision building exercises and convergence with government schemes.
