Groupe SEB India, the Indian arm of France-based Groupe SEB, is introducing its flagship global brand Tefal in the country. This will also mark its foray in non-stick cookware, air-purifiers and premium kitchen and home appliances segment in India.

Groupe SEB had acquired a 100 per cent stake in Maharaja Whiteline in 2014 to form Groupe SEB India.

Sunil Wadhwa, CEO, Groupe SEB India said: “Tefal’s launch marks the next phase in our Indian expansion strategy. With a brand that straddles both the non-stick cookware and small electrical appliances segments, we aim to establish a leadership position with products that are designed in France but are poised to fulfil Indian consumers’ needs.”

Wadhwa said that since 2014, the company has doubled its sales revenues. “India is an important market for Groupe SEB and the launch of Tefal is expected to help the company grow further,” he added.

The company will initially launch non-stick cookware, including made-in-India tawa and kadais, irons, kitchen appliances and air-purifiers. In the second stage, food preparation products such as juicers, mixer grinders will be introduced besides other products, the company said. In all, Groupe SEB India plans to introduce more than 40 products across five categories in the market under the brand Tefal.

“We will gradually expand the product range as well as distribution to about 13 cities this year. Next year, we will expand the distribution of these products across the top 60-70 cities,” added Wadhwa.

The company will make some of these products in India. The price points range from ₹699 for a frying pan to ₹37,599 for its gourmet kitchen machine.
