Thermal Powertech Corporation India (TPCIL), the joint venture company between Gayatri Energy Ventures, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Gayatri Projects and Singapore-based Sembcorp Utilities, has synchronised its first 660 MW unit of its power plant with the grid.
TPCIL is developing a 1,320-MW coal-fired power plant located in Krishnapatnam in Andhra Pradesh’s SPSR Nellore.
It has signed a power purchase agreement with Andhra Pradesh Power Distribution Companies for supply of 500 megawatt to the Central, Eastern, Southern and Northern Power Distribution Companies of Andhra Pradesh for a period of 25 years.
TPCIL has also secured fuel supply agreements with Mahanadi Coal Fields and Indonesia-based PT Bayan Resources for supply of coal to its super critical coal-fired power plant.
Atul Nargund, CEO, Thermal Powertech Corporation India, said, “The synchronisation of Unit 1 is a significant milestone towards the completion of the power plant. We look forward to commencing commercial operations of this first unit in beginning of January 2015, and to the full completion of the plant in the mid of 2015.”
