TVS Motor Company Ltd is eyeing the two-million-bike sales mark in the domestic market during the current financial year.

Shrugging off the de-growth of six per cent registered during the first half this year, the company registered good volumes in during the festival season. “We hope the remaining part of the year will help us notch up better numbers and possibly do much better,” said J. Srinivasan, Vice-President.

Launching the company premium executive deluxe 125 cc motorcycle — Phoenix 125 in Andhra Pradesh, he said the company plans to sell about 20,000 bikes of the new model a month. This will add to overall volumes that the company notches up every month.

“Having entered the executive bike segment, which continues to grow by each passing month, we expect to log in average sales volume of over 1,60,000 two-wheelers per month. Going by the current strike rate and the addition of volumes from new model, we hope to close in on the two-million bikes during the year from the domestic market,” he said. “Given the momentum seen in the last two months, we hope to make up for the lost volumes in the rest of the year. While there may not be significant incremental growth over the last year, the new model will certainly add to numbers,” he explained.

“Loaded with features, we are offering this bike in two variants priced at about Rs 51,000 for drum brake model and Rs 53,000 ex-showroom for the disk brake range. We always look out to plug gaps where there is demand and new models are certainly on cards,” he said.
