Unitus Seed Fund, a seed-stage venture investment fund, has invested an undisclosed amount in OneClickWash, a Gurgaon-based laundry service provider.

OneClickWash will use the money to scale up its team, improve its marketing capability and set up more units in Gurgaon, according to Vivek Iyer, CEO. It now has three units in Gurgaon and can process up to 2,000 kg of laundry a day.

With the funding, the company is looking to double capacity in the coming months.

The Gurgaon market itself is large, around ₹5 crore a month in terms of revenue to be generated, according to Iyer.

Iyer says the company will concentrate on the Gurgaon market this year, look to take its operations to the National Capital Region after six months and enter Mumbai and Bengaluru next year.

“We pick up the clothes from your home, we have our own logistics team, we process the clothes and deliver it at home.”

According to a press release issued by Unitus, which provides seed funds for start-ups that innovate for the masses, a household of four can outsource its entire laundry — washing, drying and ironing — for one month to OneClickWash at ₹2,500, while an individual needs to pay ₹800. The pick-up can be scheduled either through a telephone call or through an app.

The press release quoted data from Euromonitor and OneClickWash’s own estimates to put the household laundry market in the top 10 cities in the country at ₹13,000-26,000 crore.

The release quoted Iyer as saying that owning the entire supply chain is critical for the company. “This helps us provide the best possible customer experience and not just act as aggregators.” Nearly 60 per cent of those who have tried OneClickWash have become repeat customers.

Vivek Iyer, an alumnus of IIT Bombay and IIM Ahmedabad, and Chief Operating Officer Saurav Killa an alumnus of BITS Pilani and Indian School of Business, founded the venture in 2015. Iyer had roles at DBS and Standard Chartered while Killa had worked for Samsung.
