Lennox International, the US-headquartered air-conditioning and refrigeration major, has launched its new facility in Chennai to support the expansion of the company’s global research and development and IT operations. It will focus on developing innovative heating, ventilation, air-conditioning and refrigeration systems and solutions for its markets around the world.

Lennox markets its products through its sales offices in Asia and is investigating business models to further expand in the Indian market. “We are planning to invest around $10 million initially this year to increase our design and sales capabilities in India,” said Todd Bluedorn, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer.

At a press conference here today, Bluedorn said the company caters to the corporate market for air-conditioning and refrigeration.

“As some of our global customers, particularly in the food service and retail sectors look to enter and expand their business in India, our growth opportunities here is significantly high,” he added.

It began its India operation in 2010 with the opening of a technology centre in Chennai. By the end of 2014, the company expects to employ 300 engineering and IT professionals.
