Uttam Galva Steels on Friday reported 8.34 per cent jump in net profit at Rs 11.95 crore for the third quarter ended December 2012 on improved sales.
The company had reported a Rs 11.03 crore net profit in the October-December quarter last fiscal.
Its net sales increased to Rs 1,460.54 crore during the quarter under review from Rs 1,105.31 crore in the corresponding period of the fiscal 2011-12, it said in a BSE filing.
The company’s total expenditure during the October-December quarter of the current fiscal increased to Rs 1,352.48 crore from Rs 1018.40 in October-December quarter during the last fiscal.
The steel maker consumed raw material worth Rs 895 crore during the quarter against Rs 784 crore during October-December 2012.
Shares of the company ended at Rs 91 apiece, down 7.94 per cent from their previous close on the BSE today.
