Virgin Produced has entered into a partnership with Indian film fund Cinema Capital Venture Fund and the Tantrik Group to launch Virgin Produced India.

Virgin Produced is the film, television and entertainment arm of Richard Branson’s Virgin Group. In a statement, the partners said that Virgin Produced India would function as a creative content company, which will cater to the Hindi-speaking population.

It will have a full service operation and will develop, produce and distribute Bollywood films and remake Hollywood content for Indian audiences.

Richard Branson, Founder, Virgin Group, said in a statement, “At Virgin, we try to infuse everything we do — whether it’s music, travel or telecommunications industry — with a sense of entrepreneurialism, innovation and fun…and with the launch of Virgin Produced India, we’re bringing them (these qualities) to one of the world’s youngest and fast-growing audiences.”

Jason Felt, Founder and CEO, Virgin Produced, added, “For the past several years, Virgin Produced has started to change Hollywood mindset by developing a new way of doing business. We know how to reach a younger demographic. Also, we are going to take our unique and successful business model and expand it in Bollywood and throughout India.”

Cinema Capital India is a movie fund that has been involved in producing and distributing Bollywood films, such as Dabanng 2 and Krrish 3 . Tantrik Group is a Los Angeles-based media and entertainment asset management firm.

The Virgin brand has been present in India through Virgin Mobile and Virgin Atlantic. Launched in 2010, Virgin Produced was behind Bradley Cooper and Robert Deniro starrer Limitless .

Samir Gupta, MD, Cinema Capital Fund, said the new company would tap into the movie fund’s extensive network in Indian entertainment added with Virgin’s knowledge of creative content.
