The Chennai-based Voltech group, ₹300-crore group in engineering services and manufacturing of transformers and electrical components, has entered into joint ventures in Kuwait and Zambia to expand its operations.
At a press conference following the signing of agreements, M Umapathi, Chairman, Voltech group, said it has entered into an equal partnership with Rank General Trading Company, Kuwait, to provide a range of services including operation and maintenance of power, oil and gas plants in Kuwait.
In India, Voltech and Rank General will execute engineering, procurement and construction contracts in telecom sector.
It also entered into an agreement with Goldberg Associates Ltd, Zambia, a trading company, to build and operate solar power projects in Africa.
The joint venture has on hand an order from the utility in Zambia to set up a 10-MW solar power project valued at about ₹60 crore, Umapathi said.
Voltech will supply solar panels from India, where it is setting up a solar panel production facility with a capacity of about 75 MW a year, to the joint venture in Zambia.
