Volvo Auto India sold 75 cars in January 2013, almost triple from 26 vehicles sold during the same month a year ago.

The highest ever year-on-year (YoY) growth was primarily driven by sales of its luxurious sporty sedan Volvo S60 and compact sports utility vehicle (SUV) Volvo XC60, the company said in a statement.

“We are very happy to have a great start to the New Year. We closed 2012 with almost a 150 per cent annual growth and now a very promising start of 2013 with another record 240 per cent YoY growth in January,” Volvo Auto India Managing Director Tomas Ernberg said.

The Swedish luxury car-maker sells four models in the country. Volvo XC90, an SUV, and S80 sedan are the other two models.

“We would continue with our strategic associations and expansions in the country as we believe that India holds tremendous potential for our brand and want to make sure that we fully capitalize on the opportunities available while providing the best possible services for our customers with the best value at the most competitive prices,” he added.
