As much as 93 per cent of the 11.71 lakh kg offered for Sale No: 33 of the Coonoor Tea Trade Association auction was sold despite the average prices rising to a five-week high of ₹92.82 a kg, as demand increased to absorb the low offer. No CTC grade entered the high-price bracket of ₹200/kg. Broken Orange Pekoe Fannings of Homedale Estate, auctioned by Global Tea Brokers, topped the Leaf auction as also the entire CTC market, when Vora Sons bought it for ₹183 a kg. In the CTC Dust Tea auction, Homedale Estate’s Super Red Dust, auctioned by Global Tea Brokers, topped at ₹178. In the orthodox market, Chamraj topped at ₹246 a kg, followed by Kairbetta at ₹221 and Kodanad at ₹201. Quotations held by brokers indicated bids ranging ₹76-77 a kg for plain leaf grades, and ₹98-140 for brighter liquoring sorts. They ranged ₹81-86 for plain dusts and ₹105-160 for brighter liquoring dusts.
