Spot turmeric prices decreased further on Friday taking weaker cues from futures trade. “The price fall is due to the decrease in price of the turmeric futures by ₹30-50 a quintal. Traders feel the price may decrease further,” said RKV Ravishankar, a trader. The arrival increased today to 5,800 bags and only 60 per cent stocks were sold. Regarding the price, the finger variety decreased by ₹200 a quintal and the root variety by ₹150. Only local varieties arrived. At the Erode Turmeric Merchants Association, the finger variety was sold at ₹7,696-8,515 a quintal; the root variety ₹7,022-7,817. Of the arrival of 2,600 bags, 1,321 were sold.
