The Tea Board has announced the average price to be paid to small growers in the different regions of Nilgiris for their green leaf supplied last week to bought-leaf factories. “This was calculated on the basis of Price-sharing Formula based on weekly average auction price of Crush-Tear-Curl (CTC) tea manufactured by these factories,” Tea Board Executive Director C Paulrasu said here. Accordingly, the average green leaf price for Kotagiri is ₹12.46 a kg (average tea price: ₹76.65/kg), Gudalur ₹11.06 (₹68.08), Coonoor ₹10.83 (₹66.65), Panthalur ₹10.74 (₹66.11), Ooty ₹10.35 (₹63.71) and Kundah ₹8.72 (₹53.68). “Farmers are advised to sell their green leaf based on this price,” Paulrasu said.
