Kochi tea auction market witnessed a correction following increase in future offerings and lack of adequate export demand. The loss was to the tune of ₹10-15 and more as the sale progressed.

In the declining market, leading blenders were active on good liquoring teas, while loose tea traders and upcountry buyers lent fair support. The quantity on offer in CTC dust was 8,44,144 kg in sale no 17.

Arrivals was very low in orthodox grades at 2,300 kg and the market was lower by ₹3 to ₹4. A small quantity was absorbed by exporters.

In Cochin CTC dust quotation, good varieties fetched ₹114-162, mediums stood at ₹95-138 and plain grades quoted ₹90-97.

Leaf category prices also registered a drop and in orthodox grades, the market for select best Nilgiri brokens whole leaf and Fannings barely remained steady. The quantity on offer was 69,228 kg.

In the CTC market, brokens and Fannings were lower by ₹3 to ₹7 and sometimes more. There was a fair demand and the quantity on offer was 43,605 kg. Exporters demand was also subdued.

In dust grades, Monica SFD came to the top quoting ₹174 followed by Carady Goody SFD at ₹161. In leaf , Chamraj FOP-S (Green Tea) fetched the best prices of ₹409 followed by Chamra FOP at ₹330.
