SourceTrace Agri Business solution tracks the flow of goods from the farmer’s field (source) to the central processing facilities in the world’s remotest pockets. This US-headquartered company with offices in India, Costa Rica and Bangladesh aids digitisation of field-level transaction data of small and marginal farmers.

“Details of farmer’s land holding, soil health, family details, crop cultivation practices, status of the crop, distribution etc has hitherto been done manually. Our solution will help capture such details and digitise field-level transactions, so organisations closely connected with the small and marginal farmers have better clarity of the happenings at the ground level,” explained Venkat Maroju, Chief Executive, SourceTrace Systems.

Comparing the existing system with the company’s mobile app service, he said: “field staff at present make field visits, record the details and upload the same when sought or periodically. Our company’s eServices Everywhere (ESE) solution has the capability to streamline the data collected (capturing all critical information at the field level) including visual data of the environment and transmitting to the hub in near real time. Apart from transitioning from manual record-keeping to digitised farmer data enabled access, the system helps create and map farmers’ profiles, farmers’ training needs can be determined, input needs and distribution can be planned for better management, supports procurement strategies and many more.”

“The farmer though is not our direct customer. The mobile app is used by organisations such as seed companies, cooperative societies, SHGs, farm input distributors, who work with small and marginal farmers. The digitised information helps track the flow of goods more quickly and in a transparent manner,’ he said.

Over 20 organisations use this mobile app including Lal Teer Seed, Aditi, Olam, TNPL, NABARD, Suvidha, Farms n Farmers, Uttaranchal Gramin Bank and Cargill to name a few.
