D Vinod Sivappa has been elected as President and T Jayaram as Vice-President of the United Planters' Association of Southern India (UPASI) for 2016-17.

Vinod Sivappa’s family has been in the coffee growing business for more than 160 years and his father (Late) D Sivappa was President of UPASI during 1970-71. Vinod Sivappa was on the Committees of the Codagu Planters’ Association and was also the Chairman of the Karnataka Planters’ Association. He is involved in many sporting activities and is a director of many organisations/ institutions and companies.

Jayaram is an agricultural graduate and runs a family business of cultivation and manufacturing of tea with experience of 37 years. He is the third generation of the family in tea plantations. He has occupied various positions such as Chairman of the Nilgiri Planters’ Association and the Planters’ Association of Tamilnadu. He has served on the UPASI Executive Committee for the past 20 years.
