A volume of 15.46 lakh kg has been catalogued for sale No: 40 of the auction of Coonoor Tea Trade Association which will conclude on Friday. This is as much as 1.85 lakh kg more than last week’s offer. Of this, 10.26 lakh kg belongs to leaf grades and 5.20 lakh kg, dust grades. As much as 13.92 lakh kg belongs to CTC variety and only 1.54 lakh kg, orthodox variety. In the leaf counter, only 92,000 kg belongs to orthodox while 9.34 lakh kg, CTC. Among the dusts, only 62,000 kg belongs to orthodox while 4.58 lakh kg, CTC. Quotations held by brokers last week indicated bids ranging ₹84-86 a kg for plain leaf grades and ₹105-150 for brighter liquoring sorts. They ranged ₹88- 93 for plain dusts and ₹110-170 for brighter liquoring dusts.
