The Finance Ministry has imposed definitive anti-dumping duty on Linear Alkyl Benzene (LAB) imports from China, Iran and Qatar.
LAB is an important input in the manufacture of detergent bars and powder.
Tamilnadu Petroproducts Ltd and Nirma Ltd had filed the petition seeking imposition of anti-dumping duty on LAB imports from China, Qatar and Iran.
Apart from the petitioners, two more producers of LAB in India -- Indian Oil Corporation and Reliance Industries Ltd -- supported the petition.
The anti-dumping duty levied by the revenue department ranged from $23.78 per tonne to $300.22 per tonne, depending on the producer and exporter from these countries.
FLEXIBLE SLABSTOCK POLYOL
The Finance Ministry has also imposed definitive anti-dumping duty on flexible slabstock polyol imports from Thailand.
Flexible slabstock polyol is a key raw material for making polyurethane products. It is used in the manufacture of slabstock foam and polyurethane foam mattresses.
The anti-dumping duty levied by the revenue department ranged from 'nil' to $135.40 per tonne.
