The government plans to issue unique disability ID cards.
A unique disability identity card to be valid across the country will soon be made available to persons with disabilities, Thaawarchand Gehlot, Minister for Social Justice & Empowerment, said at a function here on Friday.
Gehlot said the government had brought in transparency by using the mode of direct benefits transfer, and was committed to empowering persons with disabilities.
As per Census 2011, the number of people with disabilities shot up over 22 per cent from 2.19 crore in 2001 to 2.68 crore in 2011.
