The Ministry of Urban Development will review the progress of the government’s flagship urban schemes in Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh on Thursday, an official statement said.
Urban Development Secretary Rajiv Gauba will take stock of the implementation of smart cities mission, Swachh Bharat mission and Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) with concerned state officials in Chandigarh.
Similar review meetings have already been held in Bengaluru, Mumbai, Jaipur and Visakhapatnam, the statement from the Ministry of Urban Development added.
As many as 20 cities in Haryana, 16 in Punjab and Chandigarh have been included in AMRUT, which aims to improve basic infrastructure relating to water supply and sewerage etc.
Under AMRUT, for 2015-16, an expenditure of ₹408 crore has been approved for Haryana, ₹710 crore for Punjab and ₹573 crore for Chandigarh.
The Ministry has also approved Ludhiana’s Smart City Plan with a proposed investment of ₹1,049 crore and has released ₹200 crore for 2015-16.
