As part of efforts to create awareness among the MSMEs as to how to benefit from the procurement policy of the Central government, a two-day national level vendor development programme is being organised in Coimbatore on March 5 and 6.
The event is being held jointly by the Coimbatore District Small Industries Association (Codissia) and the Branch MSME Development Institute, Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises at the Codissia trade fair complex.
In a release, R Ramachandran, President, Codissia, said the GoI was implementing a Central Public Procurement Policy for MSMEs which had made it mandatory for all Central Public Sector Undertakings (CPSUs) / Government departments to source a minimum of 20 per cent of their purchases/ services from MSMEs.
The vendor development programme would go towards creating awareness among industrialists about the procurement policy of the Central Government. It would also provide all stakeholders an opportunity to share their ideas and expertise for mutual benefit.
While around 100 stalls would display products from MSMEs and large companies, around 15 stalls will be allotted for Government departments such as the railways, defence establishments / CPSUs including NLC, BEML, BEL, Instrumentation Ltd, SAIL, etc for displaying the products they would like to source from MSMEs. Entry to the show is free.
