Beyond trade and politics, a feast of Indian classical dance forms, invoking the Rig Veda, an ancient text recognised as a world heritage work, has been organised for the US President, Barack Obama, at the Rashtrapati Bhawan here on Sunday.
Choreographed by Padmashri awardee dancer Madhavi Mudgal, the programme is being organised by Seher, a cultural organisation, and will showcase young Indian dancers perform Kathak, Manipuri, Odissi, Bharatanatyam and Kathakali, Seher said in a release.
“India is particularly blessed by its magnificent and legendary diversity of cultures and languages. This makes India virtually unique. It is this uniqueness that we wish to present for the visiting dignitaries" said Sanjeev Bhargava of Seher.
He said the presentation will seek “harmony within variety, oneness amongst disparity, and invokes the well-being of mankind.” This will be followed by short presentations in each style, and the dancers coming together in a rhythmic finale, he added.
