Deutsche Messe AG, organisers of the world’s largest and oldest engineering trade fair at Hannover in Germany, is teaming up with the EEPC India for its flagship sourcing show, IESS, that is held annually with the support of the Commerce Ministry.

This will give India’s engineering exports, which account for 21 per cent of the country’s total exports, a major boost.

With over 300 companies under one roof, the partnership is set to generate business worth Rs 3,000 crore, according to a statement from EEPC India, an apex engineering export organisation.

EEPC has signed a cooperation agreement with Hannover Milano Fairs India (HMFI) Pvt Ltd, the Indian subsidiary of Deutsche Messe AG, Germany.

The agreement would give a new dimension to the 'India Engineering and Sourcing Show - Industrial Supply India' to be held at the end of this year in Mumbai.

“With this agreement, we will be roping in the vast experience and technical knowhow of HMFI in organising IESS 2014. The joint development of the industrial supply subcontracting segment will have a multiplier effect in further strengthening the IESS property,” EEPC India Chairman Anupam Shah said.

He added that during May 2014, engineering exports posted robust growth of over 24 per cent during April-May 2014, surging to $11.65 billion over $9.38 billion in the same month last year.

Joint Secretary in the Commerce Ministry, Ravi Capoor, said the Government, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is keen on supporting industry efforts to reach out to more areas and that the agreement has come at the right time. IESS would also provide an opportune platform to the Indian MSME sector to reach out to global buyers, he added.
