The Chartered Accountants’ fraternity should expand their horizon of knowledge and acquire skills to give multi-dimensional service to their clients, Kapil Sibal, Minister of Telecom and Information Technology has said.
Window of opportunity “This has not happened. I see time would come when accountants would be lawyers as well as marketers and forensic experts. This is an opportunity for accounting community,” said Sibal while chairing a session on ’strengthening frameworks for improving anti—corruption climate in India’ at the 50th anniversary celebrations of CVC here. An accountant today needs much greater knowledge than just being an accountant.
New approach He needs knowledge of law, marketing and also forensic expertise, Sibal added.
“If you are able to provide a holistic service, your business will expand, the business community will benefit and economy will benefit,” he said. Sibal urged the chartered accountants community to have a new look at the needs of the business community in the context of accounting practices. He wanted chartered accountants fraternity to work closely with IT ministry and offered to set up a special group with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India for this purpose.
